DESCRIPTION:The Nanaimo Brain Injury Society and PacificSport VI would like to invite you to attend this informative workshop. This workshop is for people working with youth who want a better understanding of Return to School/ Return to Play standards after concussion including the most recent concussion protocols. Basic information on concussions such as causes and symptoms with also be covered. This workshop would be great for parents\, teachers\, park and recreation leaders and coaches of all levels. \nWhen: 7pm-8:30pm\, Thursday October 19th 2023 \nWhere: NBIS office – 235 Bastion St\, Nanaimo \nPresenter: Dr . Jamie Dunnett\, Physical Therapist and lead of this event\, works as a physical therapist in Nanaimo assisting patients with varying degrees of severity of brain injuries. Brain injury rehabilitation has been a passion of his since graduating from UBC in 2005. DESCRIPTION:Toss The Boss is an annual bungy jumping event presented by the Nanaimo Brain Injury Society (NBIS). \nJoin us on October 13\, 2023 at WildPlay Nanaimo for the opportunity to watch your boss jump off a bridge! (with a bungy cable attached of course!) \nGet your company team ready and start fundraising early for this exciting event! \nLocal and corporate businesses of any kind are welcome to participate\, and each company team must fundraise a minimum of $1000. Don’t stop fundraising there…  prizes will be awarded to the top fundraising team! \nAll proceeds raised will go towards supporting\, educating\, and advocating for adults with acquired brain injuries and their families\, as well as increasing community awareness. SUMMARY:ABI Caregiver Group Counselling Session
DESCRIPTION:This is a 4 week group ONLINE counselling session for caregivers of people who have experienced an acquired brain injury.  It was created for people to have a supportive environment to discuss problems and concerns about supporting a person with an acquired brain injury. The group is facilitated by Jan McNeil MA\, RCC\, a Registered Clinical Counsellor who has worked in a variety of settings including hospitals\, non-profit agencies\, schools\, mental health agencies and now in private practice.  Jan has been a counseling therapist for almost two decades and in the field of social services for more than 25 years.  Her area of focus has been on grief and loss\, addictions\, life changes and mental health and she has a strong interest in helping others heal from trauma and life issues.  Space is limited and by referral ONLY.
