Internships & Practicums
At NBIS, we know the importance of providing meaningful, hands-on experience for students. We partner with educational institutions to offer placement opportunities for college and university students.Â
Placement opportunities offer students a chance to do the following:
- Connect with staff, volunteers and community partners
- Apply theory and classroom learning in their work
- Expand their awareness, knowledge and understanding of acquired brain injury
- Reflect on their own skills and abilities & increase their confidence
"I feel so grateful to have gained the opportunity to learn from and work alongside such caring and insightful people at NBIS. I will carry with me the valuable tools I gained at NBIS into my practice and life."

"NBIS was a hands-on and welcoming organization to complete my social services practicum. The staff were always open to questions and created an environment that supported me in achieving my learning goals. A key takeaway from my experience is that brain injury can affect anyone and may be encountered in almost any sector or population. The knowledge and understanding I gained through NBIS will be a valuable foundation throughout my career. The clients and staff I met have left a lasting impression on me, and I am grateful for such an incredible opportunity. I highly recommend NBIS to anyone interested in the non-profit sector and supporting individuals living with brain injuries."
