Tina
Secretary
Tina has a long history in the field of social work ranging from clinical, academic to community work. Most recently, she worked with a stroke population in the Intensive Outpatient Rehab Program at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) and was instrumental in getting the Nanaimo Brain Injury Society Peer Support program launched at NRGH. She also has extensive experience in community organizing and community development. For ten years she worked as a Practicum Coordinator at Vancouver Island University (VIU), where she carefully cultivated placements for students in the Social Services and School and Community Support Worker programs. This led to a vast network of community connections and an opportunity to work collaboratively and creatively with community organizations. Additionally, she taught a variety of courses part-time in several program areas in the Human Services department of VIU. Her previous Board experience includes Clay Tree Enterprises, the Nanaimo Women's Resources Society and serving on a micro board for a young person with an intellectual disability. She has been involved in community-organizing projects in her home community of Lantzville (e.g. Lantzville Block Watch, Shangri La Trail Enhancement project). She recently joined the newly-formed Lantzville Community Association.
