Art Sale

Many people ask about the beautiful paintings on the walls at NBIS. These paintings are by the late Des Bevis, generously on loan by his son, Rick Bevis who volunteered on the NBIS Board of Directors from 2020-2022. There are nine of Des’ paintings at NBIS for sale. All money raised through the sale of the art pieces will go towards our continued efforts of providing advocacy, education and support to concussion and brain injury survivors and their families.

More about Des Bevis....

Des Bevis studied at the West of England College of Art, specializing in Calligraphy and Illumination. His work has been presented to two members of the Royal Family and he has completed many prestigious commissions in England, Canada and the US. After a professional career in Education, upon retirement, Des began painting. He has produced a wide variety of non-representational paintings in acrylic and mixed media, complementing his work in calligraphy. His recent creations are held in private collections in Canada, the United States, the UK, Germany, Australia and Thailand.

Depth and grace are two words that aptly describe Des Bevis’s luminous, abstract paintings. Des continually cited calligraphy as a main influence, which is evident in elegant lines that hold each painting together. Medieval, illuminated manuscripts inspire the colours themselves, including the glowing golds and silvers, but the resulting paintings are thoroughly modern.
