Stephanie is a multi-disciplinary academic consultant, data analyst, university instructor, and textbook author with expertise in research design and methodology, statistics and data analysis, and knowledge mobilization. She holds a Doctorate in Experimental Psychology from Memorial University and has contributed to research projects in education, psychology, social work, public health, neuroscience, pharmacy, and pharmacology. Her dissertation focused on the influence of early-life events in creating vulnerability toward the physical and behavioural manifestations of stress, specifically concerning the development of eating disorders and behavioural addictions. This research experience fostered a strong understanding and extensive knowledge of the adverse impact of stress on individuals’ physical, emotional, and mental health, as well as on relationships and social well-being. Stephanie began life in Labrador and followed a career path that took her from Atlantic and Central Canada to the Prairies and now the West Coast. She is excited to join the Board of Directors where she hopes her knowledge, skills, and experience can help to support the NBIS community.
